is gray wood flooring a fad

Is gray hardwood floor just a fad? with any significant trend in the interior design industry, it bears questioning if the popular materials of the time are future classics or simply passing fads. after all, hardwood flooring is a significant investment and it is important to know that your choice will stand the test of time.. Grey floors are more of a transitional style, and can look odd when paired with heavy traditionally styled furniture. heavy yellow-ish or orange-ish woodwork / trim around windows or doors does not look good with gray hardwood flooring. if you want to go gray, you need to make sure your trim colors will complement the new style.. I started talking about grey in 2009 when i started writing this blog. grey is still going strong but it’s been 7-8 years now. a trend has a shelf life of about 10 years which is quite different from a fad which is very short lived. an example of a fad is backsplash tile..

Thanks for the a2a jared. basically you are asking “will history repeat itself?” the only other time(s) that grey was a trend color, it was a short-lived fad. so your concern is founded in fact. you wife is also correct that grey is coming back in.... Wood flooring is a classic choice, and even with the influx of wood-look flooring options, there will always be a market for solid hardwood and engineered wood flooring. now, when i say “classic”, i definitely do not mean boring. in fact, the wood flooring trends in 2020 are anything but boring..
